Program Description
Learn how behaviour analysis can be used to teach socially significant skills to improve quality of life for individuals with Autism and their families.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neuro-developmental disorder that affects 1 in 66 individuals in Canada. ASD can affect the ability to communicate and interact socially. Those with ASD will often engage in repetitive/restricted behaviours. ASD is a spectrum therefore the degree to which an individual experiences these challenges will vary.
You will learn to:
- Apply evidence-based treatments and how to use these to teach individuals with autism.
- Design, implement and evaluate treatment plans using behavioural strategies.
- Comprehend and respond to needs of family members.
- Train caregivers to implement techniques with their children.
- Understand and apply the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI).
This program is also offered through Full Time Studies.
Continuing Education students usually complete this program in two years.
Courses in this program cost approximately $100 to $500 each. Textbooks are extra.

Admission and Registration
You must apply, and be accepted, to this program prior to registering for courses.
Intakes are available in the Fall (September), Winter (January), and Spring (May).
Domestic and International student admission requirements
- Minimum two-year College diploma or University degree
- Preference is given to applicants with Human Services, Psychology and Health Sciences Diplomas and Degrees
- Applicants should note that some employment opportunities require that certain physical standards must be met as a condition of employment.
- Access to a vehicle is required to travel to and from placements, and often throughout the day to travel to client homes.
- Fluency requirements must be met for applicants where English is their second language.
Language Requirements for International Students
- Successful completion of GAS-EAP (478) Program Level 8 with 90% OR
- TOEFL (opens in new window) minimum score of 560 (83 Internet based) OR
- IELTS (opens in new window) Academic minimum score of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0
