Program Description

Expand your knowledge and skills in Perinatal Nursing with an in-depth study of neonatal nursing!

Emphasizing physiology, evidenced-based practice, research and nursing management, this program will help you understand the needs of the mother, fetus/newborn, and family from preconception to six weeks postpartum.

Combining theory and hands-on clinical learning, this program covers reproductive healthy and pregnancy, labour, delivery and newborn care. Prepare for many opportunities using specialized skills to provide safe, competent nursing care to families across the childbearing cycle, including caring for critically ill neonates, and term and pre-term neonates.

This program helps prepare RN's for the Canadian Nurses Association Perinatal Nursing Certification Examination.

You may also be interested in the Registered Nurse - Perinatal Nursing (High Risk Obstetrics) Certificate.

Potential and in-progress students must be aware that most agencies accepting clinical/placement students require you to be fully vaccinated with Health Canada approved vaccines. If you are not fully immunized, it may have a significant impact on your ability to participate in clinical/field placement.
