Program Description
Expand your knowledge and skills in Perinatal Nursing with an in-depth study of neonatal nursing!
Emphasizing physiology, evidenced-based practice, research and nursing management, this program will help you understand the needs of the mother, fetus/newborn, and family from preconception to six weeks postpartum.
Combining theory and hands-on clinical learning, this program covers reproductive healthy and pregnancy, labour, delivery and newborn care. Prepare for many opportunities using specialized skills to provide safe, competent nursing care to families across the childbearing cycle, including caring for critically ill neonates, and term and pre-term neonates.
This program helps prepare RN's for the Canadian Nurses Association Perinatal Nursing Certification Examination.

Tuition and Fees
Continuing Education students will register and pay on a course-by-course basis. Students will pay for each course selected during the registration process. The Continuing Education course cost breakdown can be found on the Fees and Financial Information webpage. OntarioLearn fees will be charged where applicable.
PC/Laptop Requirement
Students are required to have reliable access to a computer/laptop.
Textbooks
Textbook costs can be found on the Campus Store website.
Preplacement Requirements
If programs include a clinical, practicum, or field placement, students may be required to complete Preplacement Non-Academic Requirements (NARs). Full details will be provided in the course. This is an additional cost (above tuition/ancillary fees and textbooks). More information can be found on the Preplacement Services website.
Admission and Registration
You do not need to apply to begin this program. Simply ensure you meet the requirements listed on the Admission Requirements webpage prior to registering.
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a current RN or graduate nurse registration with the respective provincial/territory regulator.
Interested in taking a single course? Provided you have the appropriate prerequisites, the courses in this program can be taken individually.

Additional Information
On successful completion of this program, you must apply for the Certificate in Perinatal Nursing and the Acknowledgement of Completion for the Neonatal specialty.
