INFO10297 - Digital Health Fundamentals and the Canadian Health Care System
Course Description
Examine the Canadian health care system with an emphasis on digital health systems, supports, and tools primarily within the context of the province of Ontario. Discuss the history of health care in Canada, including individual and public health, legal and ethical issues, federal and provincial jurisdictions, funding arrangements, semantic interoperability, and current patient management information systems. Examine specific case studies and issues, such as: health barriers for marginalized and vulnerable populations; individual issues and attitudes toward the sharing of personal health information, methods to improve patient experience, and the history, successes, challenges, and evolution of Telehealth and the Canada Health Infoway.This course is restricted to students that have been accepted to the Digital Health Program.
