Course Description

The Recognizing Responsive Behaviours micro-credential examines a relational care approach to responsive behaviours in older adults with dementia. Students will examine the complexities of dementia and the many factors that affect responsive behaviours and the subsequent complexities of managing those responsive behaviours by caregivers. An emphasis will be placed on the cognitive, emotional, social, and psychological impacts on both the person with dementia and the caregiver. Students will be able to explain factors that influence and contribute to responsive behaviours and select the care approach.
