Course Description

Evaluates the comprehensive health assessment and nursing skills of nursing students. Utilizes simulated clinical practice, simulation, and skills demonstrations to assess students' clinical skills, nursing competencies, and integration of prior knowledge, including best practices in nursing. In addition, students will have the chance to hone their abilities in developing therapeutic relationships, collaborating with interprofessional teams in a client-centered manner, making clinical decisions, managing time effectively, and organizing their work. Through a combination of self-study, skills stations, and OSCE testing, this course aims to help students build a foundation for success as they transition to practicing nursing in Canadian healthcare settings.

This course has been funded through the Ontario government's Nursing Program Transformation in Ontario's Colleges initiative. Note that the tuition award and supplies subsidy are only available for course sections that start before April 1, 2025. Visit the Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) Competency Upgrade Pathway page to learn more about the initiative.
