Course Description

This is an introductory course that explores the signs and symptoms of family violence including physical, emotional, sexual abuse and neglect and the experience of these, as a traumatic event, in a youth's life. Societal and Institutional Abuse are touched upon in relation to the United Nations Convention on rights of the child, First Nations and the youth "in care" experience. Within this context of trauma and abuse, resiliencies in children and youth, the role of the CYW and intervention strategies are explored.
