Course Description

IMPORTANT: Responsibility for condominium licensing education has transferred from ACMO to the CMRAO. This course is no longer offered by Mohawk College. Examine the information, knowledge and skills required for effective condominium management.  Build on the knowledge gained in the Condominium Law course through the application of the Condominium Act, including amendments made in Protecting Condominium Owners Act, 2105 and other legislation in day-to-day operations.  Focusing on the practical aspects of management and communication in condominiums, the following topics will be among those covered:  the development of a condominium, the first year, preparing for and managing Board and General meetings, contracting, staff management, condominium insurance, communication, writing and negotiation, ethics, as well as dispute resolution and conflict avoidance. As of November 1, 2017, this is one of the four courses which are the educational requirements for a general license under the Condominium Management Services Act. This Act requires all condominium managers and providers in Ontario to be licensed. This is also one of the four courses which is compulsory for those managers who wish to write the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario’s RCM exam.
