Course Description

This 8 module heat pump training program supports Canada's low carbon economy by promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, emissions reduction, job creation, technological advancement, and consumer awareness. It plays a crucial role in advancing clean energy solutions and transitioning to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly heating and cooling sector.

In order to take this micro-credential, learners should be a COQ licensed 313A/313D journeyperson or a registered apprentice in these trades.

Note to former students: While this micro-credential was fully funded by a government sponsor, it is treated as a taxable benefit calculated at the market rate of tuition. A T4A tax document for the amount of your tuition support will be available through MyMohawk in the February after your registration.

Learning Outcomes

In this micro-credential course, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of heat pumps; covering fundamentals, types, and applications. Explore system components, electrical aspects, defrost cycles, and maintenance procedures. Participants will develop installation and trade skills, learn retrofitting techniques, and understand renewable technology integration. The 8 modules in the training lead to the Heat Pump Training for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (HRAC) professionals’ micro credential.
