Course Description

Examine patient safety and patient risk management in healthcare with a focus on the impact of technology on patient safety. Discuss topics that include human factors design principles, patient safety practices, and the use of technology to prevent human error that can cause harm to patients, with the aid of case studies. Evaluate the role of digital health applications and devices in health, patient and clinical care. Examine patient risk management including medical errors, quality medical record keeping, professional conduct and ethics, event reporting, legal issues, risk mitigation and strategies for quality improvement.
