Course Description

Identify basic disease causing organisms and the role sociocultural factors have upon the emergence and transmission of disease. Survey the various forms of medicine, and important healers, in prehistory and history. Investigate the role epidemic disease has played in shaping sociocultural behaviour, medicine, and society. Explore the quantitative and qualitative research findings regarding human disease and medicine. Identify the varieties of medicine (e.g., traditional, folk, and biological) and approaches to health and sickness in human societies.
